Welcome to the Bioengineering Group. This page is the starting point to visit our research lines, the projects we are currently involved on, the people in this group and several interesting links.

The goals of the Bioengineering group are to research and develop techniques to understand and control human biological systems and its interaction with the environment from an engineering point of view.

In this context, our goals are not limited to the analysis and evaluation of the body functions and structures but also to the compensation of disability and dependence in several pathologies. In addition, we are interested on human performance enhancement, either in health applications or to improve the self-sufficiency of disabled people.

The fields of knowledge of the Department belong to Control, Automatics and Computation Science. The work performed here involves the biological data acquisition and processing, including the data analysis of biological data and the modelling of biological systems. In different phases of this process, it is possible to add other types of knowledge that could guide or complement the data analysis. The final aim of this process is to design autonomous physical devices which are able to communicate and to adapt to changes in the environment and that allow multimodal bidirectional communication channels with the user.
