MECHATRONICS AND ADVANCED DESIGN
The Applied Intelligent Robotics Unit focuses on the use of autonomous robots to operate in unstructured and dynamic environments in scenarios such as indoor and outdoor agriculture, mining, diving, space, healthcare, search and rescue, forestry, environmental science, and animal surveillance. This line of research aims to use and design autonomous robots to operate and intervene in complex missions, equipping them with advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and locomotion capabilities, as well as collaborative capabilities (human-machine and/or machine-machine) to achieve the highest level of autonomy that allows them to adequately cope with dynamic, complex, and hostile environments.
